Josh Hamilton hit 28 home runs in round one of last nights Home Run Derby in Yankee Stadium. He hit so many that he broke the record for 1 round in the derby. The record had been held by Bobby Abreu from 2005 when he hit 24 in a round. This was quite impressive to watch because he did it with very little effort, so it seemed. His 28 automatically quailified him for the finals, which meant he didn't have to participate in round 2. Good luck or bad luck I don't know but Josh Hamilton didn't win the derby. In the final round, Justin Morneau hit 5 home runs and Josh Hamilton could only muster 3 homers. A disappointed crowd in NY witnessed one of the greatest performances in Home Derby history go unrewarded.
